VERITAS NetBackup 5.x for Oracle for Solaris (VT-269)

Objective

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Identify components of the Oracle architecture
  • Establish and manage a recovery catalog and link it to the target database
  • Install the VERITAS NetBackup for Oracle extension and link it with RMAN
  • Perform offline (cold) and online (hot) backups of complete Oracle databases in addition to specific components
  • Establish backup policies specifically for Oracle databases
  • Create RMAN scripts and templates using VERITAS NetBackup for Oracle wizards

 

Overview

The Veritas NetBackup 5.x for Oracle for Solaris course provides students with comprehensive instruction of VERITAS NetBackup 5.x for Oracle9i Recovery Manager (RMAN). Students will learn to configure and use these tools to perform various backup and recovery operations.

 

Who can benefit

This course is designed for database administrators (DBAs) who will be responsible for the maintenance of Oracle databases within their enterprise environment and system administrators who will be responsible for the backup and recovery of systems within their enterprise environment.

 

Prerequisites

This course is designed with consideration to both DBAs and system administrators. A basic familiarity with operating VERITAS NetBackup is expected. Knowledge of Oracle9i is desirable, but not required.
