Security
The Cisco Certified Internetwork
Expert (CCIE™) certification for Security
indicates expert level knowledge and skills
in configuring and maintaining secure networks.
CCIE Security certified individuals are
experts in the fundamentals of IP and IP
routing, as well as in the specific area
of security protocols and applications.
CCIE certifications are valid for two years
and must be recertified.
Prerequisites:
No formal prerequisites exist for
CCIE certification, but candidates are strongly
encouraged to have at least 3-5 years of
hands-on job experience prior to attempting
certification.
Required
Exams: CCIE candidates must pass
BOTH the written qualification exam (350-018)
AND an eight-hour, hands-on lab exam available
at authorized Cisco testing facilities.
Recertification
Requirements: The recertification
requirement ensures that the CCIE credential
remains a meaningful measure of individual
technical expertise for as long as a CCIE
is active in the industry. CCIEs are required
to pass one CCIE written exam of their choosing
every two years. Ten different written exams,
reflecting specialization in different areas
of networking, are currently offered.
